This experience lasts 8 hours and has a fantastic program that will allow you to look at the city from a different point of view. The first stop is Câmara de Lobos which houses a tiny fishing village that retains its particular charm unaltered.
The place is so impressive that even Winston Churchill was impressed, and often was painting his views during his trip to Madeira. In addition, if you love the cliffs and the high peaks, the next stop is Cabo Girão, one of the highest in Europe.
Here you can take lots of photos and videos to remember your holiday. Later there will be Ribeira Brava, where you can visit the local church in the Flemish style.
Another very famous point is Ponta de Sol, literally the tip of the sun, a very bright village where the sun sets very late. It is not surprising that many mention it as the most beautiful village on the island.
The next step will be the Laurissilva Forest, a wild and unspoiled area where you can take a scenic route. The journey will be long and moderately difficult, rich in vegetation and in beautiful flowers. At the end of the path, you can take a short walk on the famous Levada (irrigation channel of Madeira) and then continue to Porto Moniz. This area is famous for its volcanic rock pools, a show of rare beauty and that you will hardly see it in another place of the world. If the weather is sunny, you can also go for a swim, and if there are not many tourists, you can stop to eat at a traditional inn.
Alternatively, the pick-up will stop the group at Seixal, another scenic spot where you can eat and swim. In the second part of the tour, you can admire the San Vicente waterfalls, the Encumeada Pass with its mountain views and, at the end, drink a typical poncha made of honey, orange juice and a distillation of sugar cane juice.
The tour starts at 8.00 am and ends at 5.00 pm with return to the hotel.
The ticket price includes a tour guide in English, Spanish, French or German, transportation, three-course lunch with water and wine at the table. The final poncha, drinks and entrance tickets are not included.
The pick-up is available from Funchal and Canico or from the port for those on a cruise.
